NEW NORMAL

“BE OPEN TO FLEXIBILITY. THERE IS NOTHING ABOUT THIS CURRENT MOMENT IN HISTORY THAT ALLOWS FOR STUBBORNNESS”- UNKNOWN.

This Covid-19 crisis is rapidly changing human behaviour towards way to shop and this is most likely to stick post pandemic too. This crisis is unexpected change to society, world has ever seen.  How we work, how we learn, how we shop and how we use emerging technologies. The growth of e-commerce was already there in trend but this pandemic gives high sugary boost to it. Online demand has increased for numerous businesses.

Economy is under extreme stress and same is applied to most of the businesses whereas it has given spike to lots of small and budding businesses. This is going to be a permanent change in the market and can fulfil demands of consumers.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the shift towards a more digital world. The changes we make now will have lasting effects” as the world economy begins to recover,” said UNCTAD Secretary – General Mukhisa Kituyi.

To stay competitive in market, small business has started to sell what’s important presently. Since attitude towards online shopping has changed drastically which is going to be a new normal to everyone. It reshapes our world, sitting at home anyone can order at their place which is more convenient than going outside and wait for long queues. People have gathered more knowledge and have added to their more comfort zone.

Report says that in first quarter of 2020, departmental stores have seen major decline of about 25% and which grew around 75% in next quarter. On the contrary, e-commerce businesses are projected to grow nearly more than 20%.

Major use in digital technologies has also given a scope and allows human to connect or communicate and are able to interact with the consumers instead being physically distant. For the very first time, emerging technologies has created a special channel to conduct business interactions, growth opportunities to market in times of preventive measures such as lockdown.

So, future of e-commerce is unfolding now with Covid-19 as most of the people have relied on street shops/kirana shops for non -essential requirements. So, post covid-19, the question is, will it going to be a new normal or we will return to old tradition of going out & shop like traditional way.
